  2.    Firstly, Happy New Year to all our readers.  Secondly, here at Amoszine
  3.      I think we are telepathic.  Why is this?  Firstly, we said that Amos
  4.      Professional would be included on an Amiga Format coverdisk, we were
  5.    right.  Secondly, we said that Mary Poppins would be on over Christmas,
  6.      we were right again!  Well, it's not hard to guess that Mary Poppins
  7.     would be on!  So if you watched that 'classic', you are now sentenced
  8.      to death (honest!), you should have been reading Amoszine instead!!
  9.  
  10.    I think all you lot should make a New Years resolution.  This resolution
  11.   is to send me some programs to review.  How many programs did I get sent?
  12.   One, Un, Uno, one measly program.  If I don't get anything sent you won't
  13.                     get any reviews, simple.  End of moan.

  27.                        How are the reviews structured??

  30.        First off I will say what the program is, what it does and give
  31.        a brief background to the program.  The following paragraphs say
  32.           what I actually think of the program.  The last paragraph
  33.         contains a summary of what I think of the program as a whole.
  34.         Below this are 7 sub-sections detailing the programs strengths
  35.       and weaknesses.  Each section has a mark out of ten.  Guess which
  36.            mark is the best!  Here is what each sub-section means:

  39.                                 DOCUMENTATION

  42.         This is where I praise or moan about a program's instructions.
  43.        If they are poorly written, then expect a poor mark.  Of course
  44.            if the program has excellent on-line help with helpful
  45.        instructions in AmigaGuide format then expect a good mark here.

  50.                                USER INTERFACE

  52.       Programs that have well laid-out interfaces with drop-down menus
  53.       and are extremely easy to use will be rewarded well.  However if
  54.         a program uses AMOS' default screen and is heavily reliant on
  55.                        the keyboard then I'll say so.

  58.                                  EASE OF USE

  60.          I think this section is obvious really but it could contain
  61.       anything, such how easy it was to install to hard disk, how easy
  62.        it was to set-up or how easy it was to loose your temper.  The
  63.                       latter will NOT be rewarded well!

  68.        The speed of the program will be considered along with programs
  69.        of a similar type.  If it is fast for this sort of program then
  70.          I'll mention it.  If the program's a ray-tracer then don't
  71.            expect it to be fast, it will be compared with another
  72.                             ray-tracing program.

  75.                                  RELIABILITY

  78.       Programs which don't work most of the time, crash, corrupt disks,
  79.              throw a tantrum will get a zero rating.  So there!

  82.                                VALUE FOR MONEY

  85.        If the program is a serious rival to LightWave for example and
  86.                 the author has released it as Freeware then:

  88.                       1) The author is extremely stupid
  89.                         2) and you've got to get it!

  91.       (Slight exaggeration there methinks! Who would release LightWave
  92.                                   as P.D.?)

  100.        This is an average of all the marks and one last comment about
  101.                                 the program.

  103.       All the marks are out of 10, no prizes for guessing which is the
  104.                              best mark to have.

  107.  @4       If you have programmed something special, then don't be shy,
  108.     please send it in!  Amoszine's reviews can only continue if there is
  109.        enough programs sent in.  Of course, it gives your program free
  110.                     publicity as well which can't be bad!
